The Palace in Cecenowo
The palace in Cecenowo has a long and rich history, dating back to the 13th century. The first mention of the village comes from 1229, and in 1232, the Duke of Gdańsk, Świętopełk, transferred the estate to the Norbertine monastery in Żukowo. In 1795, the von Weiher family sold the manor to Caspar Wilhelm von Zitzewitz (1769-1829), who married Dorothea Hering. The estate then passed to his son, Heinrich Christoph von Zitzewitz (1798-1864), who married Eveline von Massow, and later to their son, Ernst Heinrich von Zitzewitz (1838-1925). Ernst Heinrich had three wives, and after him, from 1918, the estate belonged to his son, Wilhelm Siegfried von Zitzewitz (born 1871), who was the last owner before World War II. The manor in Cecenowo consists of three distinct sections, with a tower in the center. The single-story building, part of the 18th-century manor complex, was remodeled in the second half of the 19th century. On the façade of the older part of the building, there is a cartouche featuring the von Zitzewitz family coat of arms. The interior of the palace retains original elements, including a beam dated 1687, antique tile stoves, original door woodwork, and a wooden staircase. The manor is surrounded by a historic park with monumental trees such as fir, tulip tree, ash, beech, and maple. In its immediate vicinity, there are also 18th- and 19th-century farm buildings.
