The Arcaded House in Marynowy
This building, erected in 1803 by the Vistula Delta builder Peter Loewen for the wealthy landowner Johan Jacob Ziener, is a valuable example of preserved regional architecture. Standing on a stone foundation, the house served both residential and storage purposes. The building is a single-story structure with a high, two-story roof and a distinctive arcaded front over the main entrance. This arcade, filled with yellow bricks, is supported by 10 wooden columns with Ionic capitals, placed on brick bases. In the past, the number of columns signified the social and financial status of the owner. Both the gable ends and the arcade feature a timber-framed construction, emphasizing the traditional character of the house. The interior and exterior elements are richly decorated, including ornamental door woodwork and inscriptions on the lintel and the arcade beam. This unique building, once a symbol of the owner's wealth, is now open to visitors.
