Teutonic Knights boundary stone

monuments

In the heart of the village, a boundary stone of the Teutonic Order with an engraved Jerusalem cross was set. During the works related to the deepening of the Charbrowska Struga, many stones were extracted from the riverbed. One of these stones, containing the engraved cross, was noticed by a villager who saved it from being taken away. This stone had rested at the river bottom for 700 years. Scientific sources present two hypotheses regarding the origin of this boulder. According to the first hypothesis, it was a boundary stone between the Kamień and Włocławek dioceses. The second hypothesis suggests that it was associated with administrative divisions during the rule of the Teutonic Order in Pomerania. The second hypothesis seems more probable. One thing is certain - this stone served a boundary function.
