Szczecin Gate in Stargard

monuments

Also known as the Szczecin Gate, the neo-Gothic construction from 1450 is a tunnel that includes a foregate consisting of a drawbridge, a front gate known as the Throat, and an inner gate. In 1721, the gate was rebuilt and served as a prison. In 1820, there was an institution for the mentally ill. The gate was dismantled in 1842, but at the end of the 19th century, a new pointed-arch tunnel was erected in the same location.
