Maritime Office Building

monuments

The building, designed by the Poznań architect A. Ballenstedt, follows the convention of simplified classicism. The construction of this structure was completed in 1927, intended for the relocated Commercial Navy Office from Wejherowo, renamed the Maritime Office. The headquarters of the Maritime Office is an example of early pre-war modernism, with a front wall in a representative form. In the central axis of the building, there is a bay window with an attic. The entire design refers to the style of classical palaces, but the decorations represent the aesthetics of art deco. It is particularly noteworthy to observe the two vases adorning the building.
