Lubygość Nature Reserve – A Natural Treasure in the Mirachowo Forests

nature

The Lubygość Nature Reserve encompasses the picturesque Lubygość Lake and its natural surroundings. Established in 1962, the reserve covers an area of 69.37 hectares. The lake, a kettle lake with dark red water, is surrounded by wet alder and willow forests, while acidic beech forests with oaks and pines up to 200 years old dominate the nearby hills. A particularly noteworthy feature is the pedunculate oak, which is a natural monument. The reserve is also home to over 270 plant species, several of which are strictly protected. On the trunks of old beeches, you can find protected lichens, and among the birds, there are species such as the goosander and the hermit. A red PTTK tourist trail runs along the lake, allowing visitors to circle the lake and enjoy the views of its beautiful water and forest landscape. The trail leads, among other places, through characteristic gravel-conglomerate grottoes and a viewpoint on the eastern shore of the lake, from which there is a magnificent panorama of the reserve.
