The first meteorological station in Gdynia was located in the garden of the port construction management, which housed in barracks that are likely to harbor master and the next water tower at the intersection of today's ul. Tadeusz Chrzanowski and Wendy. June 25, 1931, the station moved to a new building at Observatory Marine Street. Waterfront (now St. Washington 42). During the 30-ies of XX century it was one of the most modern buildings of its kind in the country. Openwork tower containing instrumentation measurement was performed in 1930 at the Gdansk shipyard. During the Second World War the building was based German weather station "Marine Observatorium Gotenhafen".
