Eclectic palace in Gorzyno
The eclectic building, with an irregular shape, is distinguished by a baroque gable above the entrance and a round tower with an onion-shaped dome that connects the wings of the structure. The interior retains many original elements, such as tiled stoves, wood paneling, and stained glass windows. The coat of arms of the owners – von Below – is placed on the fireplace. The eclectic palace in Gorzyno (southern part) was built in the first half of the 19th century, probably by the von Wobeser family, who owned the estate until 1839. In the second half of the 19th century, the residence was expanded with a western wing by the von Below family, who owned it until the end of World War II.
On the ground floor, in the hall, there is a fireplace supported by two columns, adorned with deer antlers and bas-reliefs of three coats of arms: a griffin, the Below coat of arms, and a shield with an eagle. Between the shields are the dates: 1417, 1298 (the founding of the von Below family), and 1798. Gorzyno was already mentioned in 1476, and then in 1499, 1518, and 1523 as the ancestral estate of the Stojentins. In 1476, the estate belonged to Johann Hans von Stojentin, a prince's councilor, and later a chamberlain. From 1648 to 1837/39, the village became a fief of the von Wobeser family, thanks to Captain Georg Bogislav (Bogusław) von Wobeser. In 1904, the estate in Gorzyno was purchased by Andreas Nikolaus Georg von Below, from the well-known Mecklenburg-Pomeranian nobility.
