Donas Hill Lookout Tower – The Highest Point of Gdynia and a Window to the Tri-City
Donas Hill, the highest elevation in Gdynia (205.6 meters above sea level), offers unparalleled views of the Tri-City, the Gulf of Gdańsk, and even the Hel Peninsula. On the eastern peak of the hill, in the Dąbrowa district, stands a 70-meter telecommunications tower with a viewing platform at a height of 26.5 meters, accessible to visitors from April 1st to October 15th, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Admission is free, although it depends on weather conditions.
On a clear day, the tower's platform allows you to not only see the panorama of Gdynia, Sopot, and parts of Gdańsk, but also watch planes landing and ships sailing beyond the Hel Peninsula. Hiking trails lead to the tower, including the yellow Tri-City trail and two access trails.
The tower on Donas Hill also has a rich history. During World War II, the hill, as the highest point in the area, served as an observation point. In March 1945, it played an important role during the battles between Soviet troops and German units defending the area.
The tower on Donas Hill has become a popular viewpoint, frequently visited by tourists and locals who want to admire the beauty of Kashubia from the highest point of the Tri-City.
