County Office in Wejherowo
The County Office in Wejherowo is located in a historic building from the early 20th century, constructed between 1909 and 1910. This landmark building is over 100 years old. The County Office in Wejherowo was established in 1818 as one of the 21 counties in the Province of West Prussia. In 1887, its territory was reduced due to the creation of the Puck County. After 1920, it became part of the Second Polish Republic within the Pomeranian Voivodeship. During this time, Sopot was detached and incorporated into the Free City of Gdańsk, and several municipalities became part of the Lębork County in Germany. In 1926, 14 municipalities were added to the Puck County, while 9 were detached. In 1928, the Puck and Wejherowo counties were merged to form the Maritime County. The seat of the county governor became Wejherowo. In 1929, Gdynia was separated from the Maritime County and became an independent urban county. During the German occupation in 1939, the Maritime County was incorporated into the Reichsgau Danzig-West Prussia. After the war in 1945, the Maritime County became part of the newly created Gdańsk Voivodeship.
