A History of St. Hyacinth's Church: From Protestant Chapel to Catholic Sanctuary

monuments

St. Hyacinth's Church is a single-nave building constructed in the 1920s as a Protestant chapel. In 1928, a bell tower was added, housing two bells from a foundry in Bochum. During the interwar period, the building was equipped with heating and electricity, which was rare for churches at that time. In 1948, the chapel was consecrated as a Catholic church, becoming a place of worship for the Catholic community. Inside, there is a painting of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, stained-glass windows from the Ferdinand Müller workshop in Quedlinburg, and the Stations of the Cross. The church serves as a branch of the Roman Catholic parish in Cewice. In 1992, it underwent a thorough renovation to adapt it to the needs of modern worshippers.
